He’d never heard crumpets called this
Is it a northern thing?

We say crumpets not pikelets in our part of Lancashire.
What do you call the thin ones we call pikelets Andre.
I am from South Wales originally, and we called them pikelets there too
No idea mamy.^^^ Never noticed any .
Just asked my husband ,from Rochdale, and he hadn't a clue what a pikelet is.
I am going to look for pikelets when I go into Morrisons tomorrow.
Crumpets for me as one brought up in East Lancashire - used to be the Lancs/Yorks boundary until they moved it.
andres, you'll find the pikelets next to the crumpets - guess where I work. ;0)))

Seriously though , I have never heard anyone in this neck of the woods even saying the word --pikelets.
Lived in the North East 79 years,never heard of Pikelets.
North West for me, never, ever heard them called pikelets !
North West Lancs. here . We have three supermarkets --B and M said'never heard of them', Morrisons said they had tried them in the past but they didn't sell and One-Stop staff had never heard of them.
