...My Epson R300 has been using compatibles for over a year now and I have seen no difference in quality or performance............At 72 a throw for the six inks I was about to throw the machine in the skip but fortunately a way was found to bypass the chip and I now pay around 15 for a set. I have even had them at 8 a set and been delighted with the results. Try them and judge for yourself...you won't do any damage by merely trying and will save a lot of money
We've tried the Premier Ink supplies from here, and they work well. The only problem I've ever found is that they tend to clog up a little more then the Epson inks, but all that requires is to do a head clean by clicking a button. As commoner says you'll do no damage.
You shouldn't have any problems using compatible cartridges. Some brands, however, are definitely better than others. If you're buying in shops, look for the excellent Print Aid brand. Online, try here:

(Not only are the cartridges great value but the service is tremendous too. Everything is posted, first class, on the day you order. If you've got any queries, phone them up and they're really helpful).

At the time I bought the R300 it was impossible to refill the cartridges after use as the "ink out" part of it's memory remained active after use ....so if you refilled one, the printer still thought the cartridge was empty and you had to by Epson's expensive cartridges..............it is this effect which has now been been overcome so that when old cartridges are refilled the R300 recognizes that they are full and will proceed to print..........commoner.

...well couldn't exactly say Zac, but if they are selling compatibles then then are sure to work or they would soon be out of a job.........
