Glad you got Avast working ok. Now remove Kaspersky using add/remove programs. Not a good idea to have more than one AV on your pc. When I read your original thread I did think at the time that your pc specifications were quite low especially the 2Gb of ram. Nowadays, it's better to have a minimum of 4Gb.

The e-mail was advising you to upgrade your OS from Windows 7 and increase you RAM considerably.
Thanks for the explanation Naomi, I wasn't aware - but obviously you're right seeing the above :-)
No problem.

and that went down the jarn

a day later 3T blaaarts at will on the same subject

Ikept a dignified silence not whining one little bit

it's been running for a while now, and my pc is slow to sometime stop. but hopefully it gives the pc some protection against the bad guys.
Hi Emmie,
Your thread has been reinstated: https://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Technology/Question1691079.html
Apologies, the thread was removed while we made a change. We just removed the activation code you mentioned so nobody else tries to use it - I don't know if they could have or not, but best to be safe!
Reinstated sans answers
Is the old Editor back?
The AB Editor has been back for quite some time now.
The one who was here several years ago who messed around with usernames and replaced certain words with others?

What was the point of replacing Emmie's thread with all the answers removed? That's no help to her at all. Very strange.
Arhhh, clearer picture now:0/
No, Naomi24.

When a thread is removed the answers are also removed. The AB Editor may have forgotten to activate the answers along with the thread. I have now reinstated the answers.
Ahh, thanks for the explanation. Well done, spare.

i too wondered where all the answers had gone, i was going to go over them and see what could be done..
thanks to all those responded and to Slack Alice for
posting a link on another thread to free Avast...
Currys PC World will install hardware for £45 plus the cost of the RAM. They sell 4gb ram for £23. They would probably install Windows 10 at the same time if you wanted it but I don't know if they would charge for it as it was free at one time.
