No.
don't know, but if it were, would it shut up the ever shrill Ms Sturgeon.

I don't think so either danny, seems odd that a potential Labour leader is getting involved in Scottish affairs.
Just could do with educating. But I think most are already aware of the pitfalls, never hurts to ensure all are though.
All parties should be aware of each country's affairs. If the get into power they need to manage the whole of the nation, and try to avoid any one country manipulating more resource than the others. (All the more reason to consider voting for members of national parties rather than local country ones who only want to please local citizens.)
...they...
Nationalism is like a lot of other political constructs - fine in its place, with an appropriate sense of proportion.

In my view, it does not need 'defeating' but some people need to be reminded of its place in the bigger picture, instead of acting as though it is the bigger picture.

nice avatar OG!
I thought it appropriate as we're in the exit season for the rest of the month.

yes that was my thinking too
No it doesn't need defeating. There is nothing wrong with Nationalism - unless it is hijacked and abused.
No. It's a bit of a gaffe really.

Listen very carefoolly, I will say zis only wurnce. 'We are the resistance to nationalism'.
I don’t agree with some of what Lisa Nandy says and the Catalonia comparison is unfortunate. However, Scotland is part of the UK, and she has every right to get involved.
I understand tho how gallling it must be for many Scots to have to listen to the leader of the new-style Ecky Thump, Cloth Cap, Black Pudding, Tripe and Cowheels Tory government constantly harping on about neglected “northern” constituencies whose voice on Brexit must be heard. The north of England is not “the north” to Scots. The Tories feel more than ever like an English nationalist party and unless that changes I can see England and Scotland drifting ever further apart
//A Labour leadership candidate has claimed that the UK should "look to Catalonia" for lessons on how to defeat Scottish nationalism.//

What, like throwing the separatist leaders in the chokey for thirteen years. Sounds a good idea to me (it will get Ms Sturgeon off the telly for a good while). But in seriousness, no, it does not need "defeating" any more than supporting the Tory Party does. People are entitled to hold different views. Their viewpoint does not need to be "defeated" but simply exposed.
Intolerance must be crushed.
If there's one thing I cannot tolerate it's intolerance.
Nothing wrong with wanting to “defeat” it tho it’s an unfortunate choice of word. I think she just means “lessen its impact”.
This is a tricky issue for some I agree. We don’t like the uppity Scots but we DO like nationalism provided it’s the right sort.
The Catalan referendum was a good example of how not to do it.
// I think she just means “lessen its impact”. //

I think she means defeat. She's confusing it with facism or xenophobia or something.
No she isn’t.
Nothing wrong with wanting to “defeat” it. Bit as I said before, it’s an unfortunate choice of words especially in conjunction with mention of the Catalan thing
