Me too. My hearing aids have some kind of fitting built within the aids which I find does help. They must work as it tends only to be when I am not wearing them that the tinnitus is continuous, ie specifically during the night. GP says there is no cure so having to put up with the problem.
I don't think that normal hearing aids are meant to help with tinnitus. They amplify external sound and can't reduce internally produced 'sound'. Sometimes masking sounds, like white noise, can make you less aware of it.
I sympathise as I also have tinnitus. I always have background noise on- the TV or radio or music. At night I keep the TV on something bland that I can listen to which distracts me from focusing on eat sounds. Keeping busy too- really helps. I rarely think about my tinnitus and don't panic about it. Focusing on it makes it much worse. Don't allow it to take any of your attention.
