Songs That Make You Cry...

Well, this one doesn't make me cry, but every time I hear it I get sort of a strange sensation:

My best mate bought the album Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow.
Reading the credits I learned it was dedicated to a local songwriter I knew who had committed suicide, and listening some of the lyrics had me welling up.

Then my best mate died suddenly and ‘One day Like This’ by Elbow from that album was played at his funeral.
I love that song, but I can’t ever play it.

I remember a friend who went to see prog rock giants play locally in the 70's, and Harvey supported.

When he finished this song, the entire audience were in tears.

The band returned and Harvey supported again - he lived not far from here - and this time, everyone was crying as he started the song!

It makes me cry because of the story, the passion with which it is sung, and memories for my youth and friends I will not see again.
