Adding file to Start Menu

Is there a way to add a file to the start menu ?
There are already files to click for shortcuts such as "My Documents", "My Pictures", "My Music", "My Computer" etc etc , but I want to add the file "My videos" to this list. Could anyone please inform me is it possible and if so how.

not sure how to add My Videos as a start menu item, but what you could do is drag and drop the folder onto the left column when you click Start. That probably doesnt make sense... I mean the list that appears when you hover over Start - above All programs and your most recently used programs

Try this.

RIGHT click on the word Start, or on the Start menu, and select the Properties option.

You should get the "Taskbar and Start Menu properties" window.

On this window you should have "Start Menu" rather than "Classic Start Menu" selected.

Press the Customize button and you should get the "Customize Start Menu" window.

Click the Advanced tab.

In the middle you have a scrollable list of items you can add or remove from the menu.

See if My Videos is in there and you can select it for display.

Another option is drag and drop.

On the start menu select My Documents to open the My Documents folder.

Hold down the RIGHT mouse button over the My Videos folder icon and drag it over the word Start in the bottom left. DO NOT LET GO OF THE MOUSE BUTTON YET.

The start menu will appear.

You cannot seem to drop it in the right column but you can drop it in the left column.

In my left column at the top I have two options named Internet and E Mail with a small grey bar underneath, showing they always stay there..

With the button still held down use the mouse to move the folder between the two options (Email and Internet)

A black bar will appear between these options.

Let go of the mouse button and the My Videos folder with be added.

vhelpfulguy - did you even read my reply?! your second method is the same as what i suggested. in response to loverboy's question, vhelpfulguy's first suggestion unfortunately doesnt work - my videos isnt an option there.

oligopoly, dont be so aggressive.

First there is no rule that the same answer cannot be put twice. In fact duplication of an answer just confirms it is right.

Secondly, my answer gave full detailed instructions where yours gave brief instructions.

Finally, in my first suggestion, My Videos was not there for me either, but I was not sure if Windows added it there as an option if certain software was loaded.

It does not not hurt to at least show someone how it MAY work, and may also introduce them to the whole area of "properties" that they had never seen before.

Thankyou oligopoly & vehelpfulguy for your help. I had hoped to put the videos file in the right column but it seems it can't be done however with your explanation how it can be put in the left column I have decided that that will suffice.
