Can Windows Movie Maker films be converted to MP4s with downloading software? If not, what software do you recommend? The objective is to upload to youTube. Am I best sticking with MP4 format for this?

I use a really good app from softonic, I thought WMM was now defunct?
Wondershare DVD slideshow, it’s very good
AVC can handle the task easily:

MP4 is effectively the universal standard for video formats these days (other, possibly, than in high-end professional video-editing), so it's the obvious one to use for Youtube.

Hi both. Thanks for your answers.
Buenchico, AnyVideoConverter isn't recognising Windows Movie Maker files, I'm afraid, so I can't convert to MP4. I'm finding AnyVideoConverter great for converting home videos uploaded from DVDs, to MP4 files if they don't need any sort of editing though. Thank you. Bobbisox1, I use WMM because it's there and it's free. Obviously it's not ideal though, especially if I can't convert to MP4. My objective is to upload a home video from DVD, cut big chunks out of it, add music and captions then upload to youTube. So you think Wondershare DVD is the way to go?
The final version of Windows Movie Maker included the option to export files to MP4 directly, whereas earlier versions only supported WMV or AVI formats.

AVC should be able to handle WMV files. If it's not working for you though, use Freemake Video Converter instead:

VSDC is an excellent free video editor:

(The free version of Lightworks is amazing. It's the software behind many Hollywood blockbusters, with the free version doing almost everything that the 'Pro' one can. The only downside to it is that it's got a fairly steep learning curve)
Iy ma be wrong, but I thought Youtube did the converting for you, and could handle whatever movie format you threw at it ?

Thanks Gromit. I'll have a go at seeing what youTube can do for me.

Buenchico. I've just found the button to press to convert Movie Maker files to WMV files and like you quite rightly say, AVC can help me then convert to MP4. Looking forward to giving some of the other editing software a go now, too. Thanks for your advice.
