Gordon went to an Island off Scotland (methinks) where he caught and cooked a bird which tasted like fish. Can anyone remember what type of bird it was? If memory serves me correctly, it was illegal to either kill this bird for distrubition purposes and/or bring it into England but he had special permission. I just need the name of the bird.

Thanks in advance

just found the answer myself - it was a Gannet if anyone is interested!
Yes, it was a gannet and after seeing how the thing was prepared I think I would heave if presented with one to eat!!
Its from an island called Sulasgair which is north of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides (my birthplace!!).

Its a baby gannet (or 'Gugu' as it is known on the island)

Every year a few local men go to the island to catch, kill and prepare shedloads of these birds and bring them to shore to the Butt of Lewis (most northerly part of the island)

There is always a mad rush of locals queing for hours to get there hands on them. You either love it or hate it. Personally I think it tastes vile!!
