please remember that this is a forrin-free site !
I don't have a favourite comedienne. Dawn and Jennifer are a great team though.
Does anyone remember Joan Rivers ? She really pushed the boundaries.
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit,
and there are some witty people in answerbank,
Have you noticed the word 'comedienne' is slowly being dropped in favour of just using 'comedian' whether referring to males or females.

Same thing with actresses, are now referred to as actors.
Jordy @ 11.23; "Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit." But, the highest form of intelligence. Well, according to me and Oscar Wilde, it is:-)
‘Comedienne’ takes me right back to the 70s. Such an old-fashioned word. Marty Caine and Janet Brown spring to mind but I never found them remotely funny.

Female comedians I like include Rachel Parris, JoBrand, Miranda Hart and Jenny Eclair.
does anyone remember Joan Rivers
I have looked it up and Anita Brookner is NOT a sista - rivers bookner geddit

I think she said of Hotel du Lac: this book is so far out that it makes ELizabeth Taylors' belly button look so far in - that its unreal !
My favourites are French & Saunders and Miranda Hart.

(Fave comedian - Ricky Gervais)
the French and saunders spoof sketches
I think: god I wish I could write something like that

today we had a clip of Nicholas Parsons being soaked by Arthur Haynes ( who he den?) and the studio audience possing themselves wiv laughter

and if you read ITMA scripts ( no dont go there) - " how we laughed" - apparently in 1940 there wasnt an awful lot to laugh about
^ Shades of "where's me washboard" ^ from the Paul Whitehouse 'homage'. :-)
I like Jo Brand,
Shappi Khorsandi is funny too, imo.
I know a lot of people didn't like Joan Rivers because of her acid tongue, but I couldn't help but laugh at her jokes..
