Over the past 12 months my petrol usage has equated to£1 for 5 miles. This has been local town driving. What would be the rough equivalent for motorway driving?
Probably about £1 for 7.5 miles. Depends on your car. Multiply your 5 miles by the highway (or extra urban) fuel economy and divide by the city (or urban) fuel economy. I'm also assuming you fill up with the same fuel at the same price.
Will depend on how fast you drive on the M'way....50 or 80mph?
Could be £1 for 6, 7 or 8 miles...the slower you go at constant speed, the less fuel you use.
2019: 3162 miles. petrol £603.51 = £1 per 5miles approx.
generally short trips < 5miles. Good quality petrol Shell V plus. Ford Focus Zetec 2003 85k on clock.
Impressive detail - or sad!
^It's the very short trips that are keeping your consumption high....the car is barely getting up to operating temperature.
My car doesn't do short trips at all and averages 55-60mpg....nearly £1 for 10 miles.
