I get loads of cards on valentine day. My birthday is on the 13th but our postie holds 'em back until the 14th thinking they're valentines cards

I don't like those cards! but the Card Factory is selling very good cards at 5 for £1, birthday cards and the like, so I wouldn't crib at the price!

I am not a fan of the whole valentines day money making con however I would imagine most of these cards would be sent as a joke, given the publicity surrounding them even the most inept romeo would avoid buying one as a serious romantic gesture.

Ah, that is very interesting, although I have never bought any myself, I have heard many similar remarks to yours.

Are filling station carnations a special species of carnation, are they any different to the 'Valentines Day' over priced flowers from a reputable florist?

I don't think they are artificial, so therefore they must still be real carnations etc. maybe lacking a rather expensive piece of advertising paper, a card and perhaps a piece of ribbon, but still carnations/roses etc.

All look the same in a nice vase though.

I would be over the moon, my hubby has lost his sight and hasnt got the confidence to go out alone, so we just rehash some of our old valentines cards which I had kept.
