court to say no to access?
my partner and i split up when our son was 5 months old. he was never a hands on dad and was a pretty bad partner too. our son is now 1 and my ex wants to see him and is going to take me to court. does anyone know what my chances are of the courts saying its best for my son not to see his dad again? apart from my feelings towards him, he is not a good role model and has no bond with our son and i believe as our son is so young, its kinder to walk away and let him have the stability that he has become used to.

As a person who never knew her dad & had to search him out herself, I believe it is in the childs interest for the parents to work out a solution ~ once courts get involved it can leave deep scars for all concerned. Why would it be so bad for your son to know his dad? remember you must put your own feelings aside in this.
I divorced my husband ~ he was foul to the core as far as I was concerned and a pretty useless dad & partner. However I have never denied contact with his kids, and they are growing and making up their own minds. Give your son the same chance. You made him together, you should be working to bring him up together too.
