where we have no broadband. What is the best way - Argos do a dongle for £29.99 that lasts three months which seems to be the best value. Do I have to do anything with it once I've got it or is it just plug in and go? I did have a Mifi unit but it was very fiddly to get online with my previous netbook.
You may be able to set your smartphone up as a WiFi hotspot. Depending on your data contract, this could work out cheaper and/or with better connectivity than the Argos solution.
No its not actually for work - I work in a private house as a carer and the residents don't have broadband but I usually use my phone to get on the internet to pass the time away at night. Just need a way of accessing it.
I had a dongle from Vodaphone many years ago. You install some supplied software then, when you want the internet, just put the dongle into a USB socket and run the software. You can get the amount of credit you have remaining and top it up, if necessary. It wasn't a fast link, but it was a dozen years ago, so perhaps things are quicker now.
