DS Lite Hinge cracked

I got an import DS lite a while back from ebay (japan navy blue) i went to play it today and noticed a crack on the left hinge :(,
i searched the web and its a common fault that Nintendo repair,
my questions are. ,
as mine is Japanese and navy blue isnt out over here will nintendo repair mine?
will it eventually break and my ds wirll be in two halfs?
Can I do anything to fix it? (superglue?, black tape?)
is there anywhere in the UK that can fix it? or where i can buy replacement shell?
i dont care about the look just dont want it to break on me (or stop being portable)

I'm not sure about the Nintendo repair, the warranty makes a point about excluding physical damage. However, there are some guys setting up a "shell" project with part apparently available pretty soon. There is a thread about it here....
