engine auto diagnosis tool light

Hi

this light came on today, when i turned the car on to turn off the immobiliser, but once i turned it on properly it went off and the car went perfectly

in the manual it says this light means a prob with the ignition or injection systems and to have the engine checked asap as it can damage the catalytic converter

but, if the light goes off again does it mean its just lighting on start up, rather than actually being a problem?

its a peugeot 405 auto exec estate. m reg, petrol.
