Sorry for your loss. I know the title of this book sounds insensitive but I found it very helpful and not full of the usual platitudes. It is available from Amazon UK. “You’ll Get Over It” by Virginia Ironsides

thanks. i think that book was also recommended by another aber, woofgang. i dont think i'm ready for reading about other people's experiences yet; i'm too lost in my own. But thanks i will bear it in mind for perhaps when i can see things a bit more clearly
I'd just like say sorry for your loss, and to wish you strength, peace and calm at this time bednobs. It will take time though, as I'm sure your pain is very raw for you now.
Me too bednobs, all the anecdotes in the world won’t help until such times as you’re ready, take care of yourself x
My condolences bedknobs - try to look after yourself - very best wishes x
It is based on her experiences but not about them as such. Yes, you need to decide for yourself what you are ready for.
I read a book of hers some years ago when I was grieving for my deceased dog and it was a big help. Thanks calmck, I will get this to see if it can help me cope with my ongoing grief over losing my parents.
Thanks everyone. In all honesty, the paralysis hasnt left me yet so i can't do much thinking ahead, or see a place where things could be better. I'll definitely consider it when i feel a bit stronger
