Ellie, I know. I just don't think it fits with all the other answers.
Tilly you said that you weren't convinced by Chambers definition.
Have you considered wappet? WAP is a branded floor cleaner. Wappet is a yelping cur
Danny, no, I didn't but I'm not going to squabble about it.

Lighten up. :-(
Don't worry Tilly I'm 100% with you and nothing online, including Chambers, gives any definition for moppet other than cute child etc.
Prudie, I have a Chambers 13th edition and defines Moppet as I posted at 13.11. It is a dog breed.
It's what I put as it fits the clue perfectly too, but if you aren't convinced of an answer best not to add it.

We'll see when the answers come out.
I agree there really isn't anything else it could be and of course wondered if it was in a hard copy version of Chambers but it's not listed online. It's certainly not recognised by the Kennel Club either but at the end of the day it's just a quiz answer.
Yes, it is in the hard copy - they limit what's goes online so all will buy the book.

Does say 'rare' too.

Only other link I found was the one posted on page 1.

Worth a try.
Mamya, the publication you have shown a link for does not look very reputable. :-)
Agreed, that's why I said - if you're not convinced best left.

I send in with blanks, wild guesses and all sorts - the fun is often in the finding out.
It publishes 'mostly' fictional news - maybe fooled some?

Might be a bit late with this but Mop is the German word for Pug and Pugs are sometimes called Mop dogs.
It seems like the start of World War 3!!!! I'm stuck on "Good for getting one's own back " (9) which is probably me just being thick - so if anyone can help when hostilities cease LOL !!!
Retriever.
