I sent HMRC a query about a letter I received from them saying I owed £377.49.

I sent this message on 29th January and it told me I would receive a reply within 5 days. I hadn’t received a reply within that time so I went on to the Government Gateway to check, and saw that my message had been received by them.

However, there was this message underneath mine.

“We know that some links inside your message may be broken and we’re working to fix this.”

What does this mean? Should I keep on waiting to hear back from them, bearing in mind I have to resolve this by the end of April. TIA.

Message them again but this time include the extra info. (It may help in getting a more detailed reply)
You could always phone them but be prepared to be on hold for a long time until a human answers.

I rang HMRC at 8.30 this morning and after being cut off 20 minutes into the phone call I spoke to a very helpful lady who, after not putting me on hold, thought that I had been overcharged.

I am going to receive a letter hopefully saying I only owe £88.00 and not £377.49. Fingers crossed.

The moral of this story is, ring HMRC before 08.30.
Fingers crossed here

Would have been even nicer if she had told you that they owed you £347, but I suppose you can't have everything xx :-)
