I truly sympathise. Up on the moors above Halifax, some 35 years ago, our labrador was snuffling about as usual (not on lead, not needed) and she suddenly dived down behind some heather and began rolling around. Not alarmed because she would roll in groughs and get plastered in mud and we had a hosepipe at home...…………. she didn't come when called and I investigated ( you are not going to like this, I didn't) to find her rolling luxuriously inside the decaying carcass of a sheep. She actually had the ribs cradling her. The car journey home was not pleasant and once there, the hosepipe was well used! She was a wonderful, loving, reliable, helpful dog and I still miss her dreadfully.
