I have an Audi and I want to get the bodywork sparkling. I see other cars around that are 5, 7 or even 10 years old and they look so ‘sharp’ and pristine. I garage my car, clean it every now and then but it never sparkles! Any hints please. Bramley
There is absolutely no point in wax polishing a car that hasn't had any paint corrective treatment...it will only accentuate all the minor scratches, swirl marks etc that are present from bad washing technique. The best all-in one paintwork treatment is something like Autofinesse Tripple that does three different jobs........
Seriously though, we had our now 11 year old Mazda treated with one of those safeguard-type treatments from new. Admittedly, it's garaged, but I've only felt the need to polish it twice in all that time, and then only because I felt like doing it. It's as new.
Wash it and deep wax polish it. Tyre dressing on tyres. Pressure wash the alloys and spray paint if necessary.Good window cleaner for interior. Light silicon spray on dash. Not too much or you get glare reflection. Use good quality cleaning materials. The Royal mews chauffeurs were issued with one particular brand for all those products that can be obtained from Halfords. Begins with A and ends in M. Another chauffeur tip for black paintwork was using a drop of paraffin in the rinsing water. A tyremart crayon if you want to bling your tyre brands on top of the tyre dressing.
Thank you Arrods. Can you recommend a good polish? The last time I polished a car was with Simoniz? and it left white marks in the gaps that were a pain to get out! BB
