X Factor - Have you Been On It?

Has anyone out there been on X Factor and how would we recognise you? I would LOVE to know how they panel get through all the thousands of contestants on one day, and if they don't get through them all in one day, what happens to them? Do they have to put themselves up in a hotel and come back the next day? I have calculated they can only see about 300 in a day, if that, after they have arrived late, put on their make up etc. and there seem to be so many waiting to be auditioned. Fascinating and so funny to watch. Painful as well sometimes.

They have pre-auditions before Simon, Sharon and Louis get involved and they filter out a lot of the mediocre ones that wouldn't get through but aren't entertaining enough to go on as one of the bad ones. A lot of the shots of the crowds are done at these.
