I'm not scaremongering. It stands to reasons that we are not nearly at the end of the outbreak, that the cases and fatalities will continue to rise for some time yet, and that we don't know where the ceiling will be. If I were to hazard a guess then I'd expect UK cases to reach in the region of 10,000 by the end of March, but it's not much more than a guess at this point.
Another thing to bear in mind is that, in essence, the more scared we are, the less we have to be scared about. CoViD-19 has the potential to be devastating, but only if we aren't scared about it and carry on as normal, thus allowing it to spread unchecked.
A healthy degree of panic, on the other hand, and people will be more minded to take the necessary measures to avert the worst of the possible effects.

I did see it. Also have seen a number of (hopefully isolated) reports of people *deliberately* coughing on others. The fact is that there are a lot of stupid and twisted people out there. Or just careless/reckless.
Another thing that ought to be obvious is that the official case numbers will lag behind the real total. For example, so far in the UK only something in the region of 30,000 people have been tested. While it's safe to assume that those tested are most at risk, it's also pretty clear that community spread, if/where that's happening, will take time to show up: the disease has an incubation period measured in days.
It isn't scaremongering to acknowledge this. There is a long way to go yet before this is over. But as long as we're clear that there *is* a danger, we can take the action needed to avert it. That's the point.

Ladybirder, there was a similar case in Australia. A minister said it was dreadful that a doctor who wasn't 100% should go to work. Australian doctors pointed out that the one in question appeared to have only a mild cold and that doctors go to work with mild colds all the time because otherwise the health service would collapse in winter.
I don't know if the same is true here. The doctor had been in Italy but nobody's said he had any symptoms of anything, and the government hadn't suggested that everyone who'd been to Italy should self isolate. So I wouldn't guarantee that he did anything wrong.

A second MP has gone into isolation as a precaution.

NHS111 have advised that I self-isolate as a result of a meeting I had with the Government's Mental Health Minister last Thursday who has subsequently tested positive for Coronovirus. Thankfully I am asymptomatic. It is so important that we all follow all public health advice.
