Hi, I tuned into X factor half way through, who was that American woman and why was she there for only 5 mins?

it was paula abdul one of the american idol judges, was a guest judge for the london auditions i think

her name was paula abdul. She was a surprise guest. Simon invited her. I think it was either the london or manchester audition. She only came for that audition.

Yeah, as they say above, it was Paula Who? Simon had introduced a surpriiiiiiiiiiise ! guest into it in order to boost rating and questions like these on Answerbank -

The prog was cut, and just as she was coming on, they were in Manchester, but it seemed clear to us Northerners, thatshe was there for a London audition - fares to London on the whole being cheaper - and then they cut back to Manchester.

and Simon, poor Simon,couldnt get over the fact that although he disliked at sight the four girls as a group, they were in fact quite good.
