Thanks Bobbisox, but at least I will be getting my money back. I'm not re booking because we don't know how long the hysteria will last, so I'll take the dosh.

I’m being refunded too
I would ask them for a refund for your nails Bobbs, tell em you've cried that much the colour as run.
Sorry to read about your disappointment Bobbi. That volcano hasn't erupted for many a year and I reckon it will still be there when the bug bugs off (or whatever they do :-) )
I managed to get my annual trip to Malta early this year and saw the new year in there. My road trip with mates to Arnhem via the chunnel and Belgium looks decidedly iffy in May though. Hotel and Chunnel already booked (and AA European cover). :-(
Oh well I suppose we could always drop in by parachute. :-)

That's OK then. Just checkin'. xx
We go to France every year for between 8 and 12 weeks and should be setting off next month. We drive but not heard anything about Eurotunnel cancellations yet so fingers crossed. Most of time will be spent sitting by a lake while himself fishes for carp. Already got plenty of food etc packed which will keep till later if anything happens. Always pay for holiday by credit card as a bit of extra insurance but have it paid off before we go. Just have to wait and see.
Eurotunnel are updating prospective passengers by e-mail currently. Got one yesterday. No cancellations yet and they will refund certain bookings or they can be held over.
We stay on the outskirts of Puerto del Carmen opposite the San Antonio hotel.

Dear Mr .........

Eurotunnel services are operating as usual, but with the increase in cases of Covid-19 across Europe we wanted to let you know that the health and safety of our customers and team members is our utmost priority.

We are in close contact with official authorities to ensure we have the latest information and are monitoring any changes. Currently there are no travel restrictions in place between the UK and France and we continue to run our passenger shuttles as normal.

We have reinforced best hygiene practices across our business and with our partners, including the retailers in our terminal buildings. Automatic hand sanitisers have been installed in passenger areas in both the UK and France, but as WHO guidelines explain, washing hands with soap and water is the most effective course of action. We have, therefore, increased cleaning and checks of supplies in all toilet facilities.

Whilst most customers travelling with us choose to remain in the comfort of their own cars throughout the crossing, we have increased the levels of cleaning of the interiors of our passenger shuttles for extra peace of mind.

We know the current circumstances mean people’s plans may change. It’s helpful to know that you can amend bookings up to 24 hours before your departure time, if you’re travelling in the same direction and we have space available. You only need to pay the difference if the new ticket is more expensive, but we will not charge any amendment fees. Most ticket types have a full year from date of original purchase to be used. Customers who book a Flexiplus ticket can choose to cancel travel and get a refund at any time.

Due to increased demand it may be slightly more difficult than usual to get through to our Contact Centre. Most ticket types can be amended online (check the information in your confirmation email to see how to do this). If you are unable to get through and need to speak to us please fill in our contact form.

The situation is evolving rapidly and we will continue to monitor official advice. We will keep this page on our website up to date, so please check it if you have any questions or concerns: eurotunnel.com/covid-19.

Thank you for your support at this time.

Stay safe, The Eurotunnel Team
Thanks for that Retro but we have booked a package which includes Eurotunnel so we will have to wait hear from our travel company. They are updating their website daily and have said if any outbreaks near any of their sites then they will see if they can offer an alternative. If not they will refund all monies paid. Watch this space.
Love Teguise. Granddaughter is going there in September. We go for the day, but not on a Sunday!
We can’t complain,as we have had Budapest, and 3 weeks in pafos this year already,
Skye for me and plenty of Scotch as a disinfectant me thinks....makes sense......and it's remote. Now who wants to remit me a few hundred?
Question Author
Old Teguise , the market , too busy, I’m not a market person at all Carole
I'm supposed to be in France now but as we have old folk and very young babies in our hamlet and I am still coughing I'm holding off going. It's looking like the country is heading for a shutdown anyway.
