Viagra e-mails

I keep getting these, and other unwanted sex e-mails. How do I stop this?

So do I carlton, I've been getting them for weeks but I dont know what to do other than reporting them as Spam.

If you're accessing your mail via the web, there's very little you can do.

If you're using a mail client (such as Outlook Express or Windows Mail) this (free) program will help:

You can't be 'spammed' unless the sender of the mail either knows your email address or can guess at it.

With regard to the 'guessing' bit, spammers send out mail to, say, [email protected], [email protected], [email protected],uk, [email protected], etc, etc, in the knowledge that at least some of those addresses are likely to exist. (So, a Tiscali user, wanting to avoid spam, would do better to choose an email address such as [email protected]. There's very little chance of a spammer guessing that address).

With regard to spammers 'knowing' your email address, it's always best to avoid using your 'main' address for signing up to web forums (or for internet purchases). It's far better to adopt a policy of using multiple addresses. Whatever you do, always resist the temptation to reply to them with an 'account' of your thoughts on their marketing strategy.
Once they know your addy is a valid one you'll be absolutely swamped by them.

I never have opened any of them....I`m too old in the tooth and bones to bother, but they keep on` a-cummin`. (not bad for an old-un eh?)

Go to mail options top right. Then click on block mail, and add the email address you want blocked! It will let them know, you're not receiving them.

smith134, I am with virgin media and have looked for your advise but can`t find `block mail in `>Tools`> Internet Options`<

How come it's legal for them to do this? As they are advertising and we know who and where they are, why doesn't somebody have a word?

Quite, mariner, I`m nearly 75yrs of age so what do I want with em. Only wish I could.

Tell them they may as well stop because it's so much reading, you can't keep it up.

My woman uses Mailwasher at my suggestion. I used to use it years ago. Presently my AV and e-mail supplier zaps most spam things for me: I don't see many at all, and none from viagra sellers.
