its a recruitment ad
To me, it's obvious that it's an attempted antidote to all the negative publicity that Amazon receives reagarding treatment/conditions of it's workers.

Indeed - my opinion , also
I know of 2 failed recruits who are relieved not to be cogs in that machine.

Who'd want to apply anyway just to taste one of Donna's cakes on a Tuesday?
Had a great tour recently. Fascinating stuff.
Everybody was very happy in their work it seemed.
Well they weren't going to show staff with the gall to admit to being disgruntled. I think the accusations from those unhappy have more weight than an ability to find some willing to express satisfaction to visitors.
How is it great to work for a company employing persons on zero hours contracts, and those entering into such contracts are forbidden from taking any other employment?

I certainly would not agree to such a restriction on my freedom to take other work (where I was on a zero hours contract).
Not all jobs at the fulfilment centres are zero hour contracts - there are a lot of vacancies for 10 hour shifts, 4 days on, 3 days off. Free parking, free meals tea and coffee, pool table and other facilities in rest room, £9.50 per hour, £14.25 overtime rate.
I know two people who have been working in this job for some years and they like it. It is hard work but so are lots of jobs and it isn't dangerous like some. They are certainly employed as most people understand the term - fixed hours, holiday pay, sick pay.
Admittedly my above post is based on third-hand information.

A couple of years ago a college of mine’s girlfriend was working at Amazon, he said that she did not realise her zero hours contract (with Amazon) prevented her from taking other work – and recounted that supervisors who selected staff for work rosters, would exclude any worker they fell out with (effectively sacking them).

Unfortunately he no longer works with me, so I cannot press him on the veracity of the story – but if I were Amazon I would announce that I had never employed staff on zero hours contracts, and therefore could not have prevented them seeking other work.
Zero hours contracts are very handy for people with kids.

I used to work zero hours. If one of the kids were sick I just wouldn't book any shifts. It worked very well for me. Admittedly though.....we weren't reliant on my wage. My earnings were just a bonus.
