Go North East is allowing concessionary bus pass holders to use their pass at anytime from tomorrow instead of the usual 9-30 am

Yes, the government asked all local authorities to consider doing this so that pensioners can use their passes on the early bus to the supermarket. Glad yours has responded favourably.

In Scotland, the concessionary passes can be used at any time anyway - it's been that way for years now. Still, it's good to hear that the government nudged the local authorities.

Today I have seen an amazing response from all the parties involved in a hearing tomorrow.

However at Tescos the shelves were stripped bare. So I only bought booze. I was selected for a service check. The lady said I hadn't got much. "Oh well" I said "no food to buy so I've bought booze and in 3 hours we won't care". She said that was the best laugh she'd had all day.

i maintain that its all a ruse to kill off wrinklies - shops were PACKED this morning in the old persons time, Jut when all public transport is cutting back, the councils are encouraging oldies to get on them!

I can scarcely believe the response here. A new community website has emerged; I've been leafleting until my fingers and back are sore - and the whole valley is offering help and what's available in so many ways.. I've spent ages putting various village groups in touch with each other this evening. Wonderful! When you band together; there is so much help around and the very best is that a lot of younger people (mainly women in their 30s/40s) are stepping up to replace us.
