Repotting Fig Tree

I have a Brown Turkey fig tree in a large pot, (19inches)it’s been in there 4years and I’d like to repot it in same pot but with new compost, can I do this now before it leafs and what sort of compost is best, I intend to prune it at the same time.thanks.
