Two questions if you don’t mind
I’m expecting a letter from NHS tomorrow (type2 diabetes) to socially isolate- not a problem as I live on my own and can see my sons via a window but I have an appointment tomorrow with the nurse for my bloods taking - should I go?
Also - I walk on average 90k steps a week - would I be ok going out for a walk at this time of day (6.30 am) no one about just a few cars?

Thanks in anticipation and stay well

your health centre is most likely closed to callers..phone first.. you can walk out as long as there is no human contact !
I see no problem with that ric. just don't get too close if you're worried.

Another thing - and this may sound ridiculous- I was thinking of buying a treadmill - how long would I have to leave the packaging on before I should open it? I could ask the delivery men to leave it in my hall? Sorry if this sounds flippant
are people with type 2 diabetes in the at risk spectrum? that's over four million

Social isolation has been shown to bring on T2DM, so it seems a strange decision unless it’s based on your immune system being compromised (white blood cells fight bacteria and viruses).

you could get one of those wee pedal things that you use while sitting..I bought one for dad..lot cheaper and don't take up lots of room..by the time it has been in transit should be ok..spray with dettol or similar if you are concerned

I’m basing this on the fact I get called in for a flu jab (which I don’t get btw) and they have said all people who do get called in for one are at heightened risk

Thanks MM - I never thought but a bike machine would take up much less room
A trampette, just walk on it, £40 or less from Argos.
I think the letter was aimed at more serious conditions than the ones already covered on the government’s website which already covers the flu jab
I happened to ring my Doctor's Surgery on Friday and among the new automated messages was one saying the Nursing Services were still operating. Probably different for different surgeries but you may find out without having to talk to anyone.
I've got a walking machine, makes a good clothes hanger. ;)

I rang the doctors last week - still advised to attend nurses appointment- think I might wait outside though

I’ve actually bought one of those sit on a chair and cycle machines
Excellent value (£60) and I can use when the madness ends on rainy days when I cannot go walking - bonus is I can use on my flabby arms too but we wait and see about that
Spicerack - that’s exactly what we told a colleague when she paid £200 for an exercise bike and we were right

I’ve only gone and bought an indoor trampoline too
(I’ve got amazon prime for a month free trial). The trampoline looks great fun and I’ve often thought about getting one so Now’s a good time AND I’m helping the economy too (to bounce back some might say)
life will have its ups and downs ...

Just to add regarding treadmills, I bought a Reebok one last year and have no regrets as it works very well. However, it is astonishingly heavy and I couldn't even get it out of the box on my own. Luckily my daughter was able to heave it into place for me. So not a good purchase if you don't have help to put it where you want it.
you will not receive a letter with asthma. The "stay inside for 12 weeks" letters are going to organ recipients, people with certain cancers and people with cystic fibrosis
alo, if your surgery is anything like mine, the doors will be locked and people advised to wait it their cars till their appt
I would go. You will then have the reassurance that knowing your health is as good as it can be. Or phone the surgery and ask if it still ok to come. You haven't had your letter yet though.
