...by the side door.
Stupidity, and maybe greed, know no bounds.
I said he should phone the police about it. Would you?

Would the police do anything, anyway? They might turn up for a crafty drink, themselves.
I’m sorry to all decent police people, but I’m not impressed by them.
No, I wouldn’t phone the police.
I’ve come to the conclusion that large numbers of police are utterly incompetent.
Shockingly so

Perhaps the PSNI are different
that's the system they used in the "troubles" - only known people were allowed in, bit like the Prohibition US speak easy system.
Me too, Ich. A young lad I know had his car broken into and all his work tools stolen the other day. The police weren’t interested. Shameful.
Compo culture will close them.
these days plods is most interested in trawling Twitface in case someone uses a verboten word or phrase.
It is very rare to get the Police to arrive promptly at a pub when there is a fracas occurring, and people are getting injured.
So it will be novel, if not very surprising, if they attend to reports of clandestine imbibing.
I doubt it is even happening. Many pubs are also the domestic dwellings of landlords or managers, and they will be moving about their homes.

Hopefully the Police will have better things to do.
Depends where you live Gromit.

My uncle and I went to a party in a pub down the road. Got a phone call to say it had kicked off in his pub. We ran over and it was full of police. Town centre pub.

In days of yore before there were thought police. The local Bobby would hear a whisper and have a quiet word with the landlord. Those days are gone. Nowadays political expediency dictates policy. Ms Dick of the Met being a shining example. It’s all smoke and mirrors, very little real policing. Shame, some of us deserve better.
In England, it's Trading Standards and Environmental Health who'll be checking compliance with the new Regulations.
