Sorry if i am the odd one out here, but i am not buying into this whole"live animal market"scenario. The Chinese have been eating these strange creatures for the past thousand years.Suddenly ,a mass worldwide epidemic.I,for one,am not buying into their propaganda.Sorry.
Would you know if they had problems before ? SARS originated in China. And before the age of global travel these things would affect only locally and you'd probably not hear about them.
Why not, ynna? The emergence of a virus is a matter of (bad) luck.
The native South Americans didn’t have Smallpox and flu and various other horrible diseases until the European explorers to the viruses there.
The reason we had them, and they Didn’t was because we had domesticate animals and had farms so we didn’t have to hunt. But living in close proximity of animals, sometimes sleeping in the same dwelling, opened us up to germs being passed from one species to another.
The native South Americans didn’t farm, and the animals they had were not domesticatable, so they never got diseases off of swine, and had no immunity when the infected Europeans came.
China is still largely a rural agricultural country, so are more likely to encounter animals than us urban city/town dwelling westerners, so it makes sense that a species jump is more likely to happen there.

I’m pretty sure they did
not much animal farming, steg. Llamas and guinea pigs were about the lot in South America, turkeys and dogs in the north. They'd have developed immunity to diseases from them but not to things ike smallpox.
And me, steg.
It originated in China but more importantly they covered it up for 6 weeks.
Political correctness is all well and good but sometimes we have to face reality.
You’re right SARS was an outbreak that came out of China wet market in 2002-2003 and affected 26 countries. Fatality rate of 10%

2009 was the influenza pandemic that came out of Mexico. Fatally rate 0.1%

Coronavirus is at present somewhere in between the two.
