13 years old - isolated in hospital with no family or friends with him as he dies. How awful. Must have been terrifying for the youngster. Let's hope the boneheads who ignore the rules read about it and reconsider their ways.
Mozz, //They said he had no apparent underlying health conditions…. A spokesman for the trust said the boy's death had been referred to the coroner, but gave no further details.//
I have no doubt the 'boneheads' are quite aware of how many are dying but are too ignorant to realise that we are all at risk. The trouble is, once it was known that most of the deaths were (originally) those of a certain age, those nowhere near said age believe themselves invincible.
If this child did indeed die because he contracted the virus it is entirely possible that he ignored the rules. All of us on this thread think about when you were a kid. You were invincible, immortal, nothing could go wrong; the world was yours to grab. "Stupid rules" were for "old folks" (usually anyone over 25, or even 20). However it is, obviously, sad and tragic that such a young child is dead.
The trade off is how many young people will be alive at the end of this because they were not out doing stupid things, or on bikes, etc. More than any other group I suspect there will be an overall improvement in mortality rates
I am sure a member of staff would have been assigned to stay with him, even if it happens to adults, children in isolation would not die alone Not someone who he knew but someone to reassure and just be in that space. It might not be possible as the situation becomes worse though.
Ken - // I have no doubt the 'boneheads' are quite aware of how many are dying but are too ignorant to realise that we are all at risk. //
Sadly, a built-in side effect of being a 'bonehead' is the inability to think outside oneself, and the capacity to make a connection between death from a virus and ignoring the protocols designed to stop the spread of the virus, is simply beyond their comprehension.
