Headlight Bulbs

I have a honda civic 1.6 2015 model the low beam is totally crap and I would like to up grade the headlight bulbs. Can this be done as the lens are plastic and would they melt with a higher rate bulb? Also what size would I need it is the low beam causing the problem. Thanks for any answers up front.

There is a legal limit on the power of headlamp bulbs you are allowed to fit for normal road use, so don't do it as it will invalidate your insurance.
Is your headlamp adjustment correct?

find out the buld and do a search on Ebay, loads of options. They wont invalidate your insurance.

Changing the power of your headlamp bulbs is something your insurance company needs to know about; not telling them, at least when you renew your policy, can give them an excuse to invalidate your policy.

I think that you can legally fit these bulbs(you will need to do the search putting the exact car model in the box). LED lights can usually only legally be fitted as replacements for existing LEDs. If you do take the LED route you will need someone qualified to alter the beam properly so as not to blind oncoming drivers. These bulbs though should be an improvement.

No one has suggested using LEDs bhg. Tora's link also shows the better performing Halogen bulbs available, as does mine.

BHG, very few things invalidate insurance, if that was the case then just about every motoring offence would precipitate a prosecution for no insurance, common myth.

My present car has full LED lighting and the headlamps are excellent.
However, in previous cars, I have always replaced the original bulbs with much brighter versions...either Philips X-treme Vision or Osram Nightbreakers. Bit pricey and shorter life than originals...otherwise, absolutely no problems using them.

Upgraded bulbs often go quite quickly probably because of the heat.

Lilly are your lens at all frosted, are they letting all the light through?

Your car will not have been MOT tested but worth getting light alignment checked.
