A good number of delivery offices work on an "only just enough staff" basis....mine included. As soon as something happens (unexpected leave, illness etc.) deliveries get scaled back. Sometimes over-time kicks in....we've had a delivery as late as 8.40pm.
Post in Stoke a bit erratic but still coming through.
Wish it wasnt though, had my gas/electric bill a few days ago.
Bills still, somehow, find their way!
Checked with two friends, they have not seen a postie for a few days either. Not nice getting bills nailit! Wish I knew what was going on here, you all seem to still be getting post, albeit slightly erratic in some places.
Spoke to mine today. Apparently two of them normally go out in the van and do rounds close to each other, but only one person is allowed per van now and as some posties can't drive they have a reduced service
Just spoken to a local postman (not mine)...the local delivery office has half the normal staff available and rounds are being done on a rota basis- expect a delivery every two or even three days, he said. It's faily common countrywide.
I've found out that there has been a walk out at my local main delivery office over the virus (two people have it) and apparently there's not enough protective equipment to go around.
Being self-isolated I go to my postbox only once or twice a week as it means leaving my flat and going to the main entrance hall. Went today and it was full, letters, couple of small items I'd ordered from eBay but also lots of flyers. So no respite from those more's the pity.
