How wicked can you get.?
Not really a question, I'm jusrt horified at what a mother can do to her child.

There is however a problem in that Social Services have a "dual remit", to help and assist families and to take children in danger into care. It seems in this instance that the mother realised that there was a huge problem but was too afraid to seek the help of the social Services in case her child was taken from her so very stupidly took the disasterous path she did. I have always felt that child protection and social services should not necessarily be under the unbrella of the same organisation to prevent such problems as this.Thankfully the Police intervened and I'm hoping that the lad will have a fresh start although he'll struggle with what's already happened to him.
If that report you have there turns out to be true Clanad then we have a massive problem on our hands but as yet it is supposition, so lets hope they got it wrong.

oh Loosehead, it breaks my heart.
Why is it that the ones of us who have to see a baby die would do anything to have them back; and yet they seem hellbent on destroying theirs?
I just don't understand how a parent can be so selfish. I would die for my children and I just can not comprehend these behaviours at all. It disturbs me to my core.
I'm holding my little ones a little tighter tonight.

Beggars belief does'nt it! Fortunately for the majority of us this kind of behaviour is just so alien it's hard to understand how a mother could do this to her own son! Also makes me wonder if she has any family herself as you would expect other family members to notice something wrong and intervene! Thankfully the wee boy has been placed in a foster home and appears to be settling in and doing well at school and I hope he continues to do so! As for the link Clanad has posted I can only agree with nox and hope it is'nt really true!!
I was intrigued by the fact that the child's grandfather reported the matter to social services and then said, when interviewed, that 'They had a lot to answer for' for not taking appropriate action. Surely if he was concerned enough to report his own daughter's situation to the authorities, he could have taken action himself. What sort of a grandparent stands to one side and watches his own daughter destroying herself and his grandchild and does nothing practical to rectify the situation? Everyone these days seems hell bent on letting someone else take responsibility.
What about the father who jumped from the balcony in Crete taking his children with him and killing the 6 year old boy. He was distraught because his wife said she was leaving!! Whatever he felt, there is never, ever any excuse for harming a child. I usually feel sympathy for someone who tries to end their own life, but I feel intense hatred for this man.
