What Was It?
16 Answers
Last night I was looking at the sky with my 10 x 30 binocs, looking west. A fast moving object appeared in the field of vision which I managed to follow all the way accross the sky. It was travelling so fast, that it had crossed from one side of the sky to the other in 3 seconds (three). My initial thought was that it was a meteor, but I wasn't convinced as all of the ones I've seen are usually streaked and breaking up in the atmosphere. This was a point of light, like a star, but moving incredibly quickly. I haven't seen anything move that quick before in the night sky. What was it? We'll never know!

Firstly, I don't do FB or any other social media, so unfortunately, that's a non-runner. Secondly, I don't think it was a satellite as it was moving too fast. I have seen the space station numerous times, and the object I saw was moving extremely quickly. So quick, I could hardly believe it. In relation to Venus, it was a lot higher in the sky and slightly more to the south when I spotted it. I came to the same conclusion as Harpurhey Pete, that it must have been a meteor. Having said that, as I said in my OP, all the meteors I've ever seen have been streaked and breaking up.
