I read somewhere recently that the chickens are still laying, and eggs there are a plenty.
However, they cannot be packed as usual because the factories producing the boxes are closed down at the moment, meaning there is a problem in delivering them to point of sale.
The packaging is the challenge for both eggs and flour suppliers. Thats why the local supplies are still plentiful because independents have their own small packaging processes.
I'm sure there may be plenty in farm shops...oh, I wish I could go to one. Alas, I've not been to a shop in 3 weeks. Neighbours were able to get some at Lidl for me last week. But I'm obviously limited in my choices. :(
I was always bothered by weevils in bags of flour and threw away loads and then someone on here mentioned about keeping flour in the freezer which I've done for ages now and the problem is a thing of the past. I'm often giving silent thanks to that lovely poster!
For any Morrisons' shoppers, from a shelf-stacker's perspective.
Our eggs come on the afternoon delivery (anytime from 4 to 7pm) so I'd suggest you try to be in store about 6pm if you want eggs.
We used to get about 8 cases per delivery but it has fallen to 3 or 4 cases since the 'crisis' and they do sell exceptionally fast.
"all the shelves were full apart from tinned tomatoes"....Waitrose has all of them - I've never seen such a mountain of a canned item in my life....and also plenty of eggs.
