Don't know if this has already been posted, but a 99 year old chap is walking 2.5km before his 100th birthday to raise money for the NHS. So far he's raised over 6 million.
heading for 10 million. It does annoy me, though, that 99-year-olds are having to raise funds for the NHS, something we're all paying for already. (I feel the same about charities caring for wounded servicemen and women.)
Its not for the NHS its for the NHS Charities which provide extras that are not provided by the government. Its his birthday soon and they are expecting thousands of cards to arrive for him at his local post office.
A fantastic achievement.
Makes me wonder why those who donated, especially the big donors, could not donate anyway without the efforts of this gentleman.
To think he wanted to raise £1,000 - he kinda smashed that.
I've had a horrid day and this brought a little tear to my eye. He just wanted to do a little thing to raise a few quid. What a great guy and how wonderful that SO many people have donated to this. It's things like this that gives me hope that we are essentially a bit decent when otherwise there is crap and petty squabbling going on. He has captured the hearts of so many.
