Spot on. The BBC is a long way from perfect, but it's still a country mile better than the dumbed down piffle that fills ITV every day, and it's nice to have some refuge from the constant barrage of ads on other stations. It's not just BBC1 and BBC2, remember. There are numerous digital stations and many national and regional radio stations paid for by the licence fee, as well as the World Service and the oft-overlooked other services they offer, such as BBC Bitesize to help GCSE pupils. What they offer in exchange for the licence fee still seems very reasonable to me.
To paraphrase Mr T (from a time when ITV occasionally showed decent programmes), "I ain't signin' no petition, fool".
