liability to shared debt in divorce...

Hi, can any body tell me is there a split besides 50/50 to debts accrued in a marriage when divorcing? or haw would the courts see it or devide the debts??

When you divorce the assets and the debts are all taken into consideration and you would have to fill in a Form E which would list everything on both sides. The resulting figure is the marital 'pot' and that will either be split according to your agreement, or if you don't agree then by negotiation through solicitors or finally the Court will decide depending on the needs of each party and taking into account children etc.
