No one is going to be happy with how this has been handled unless there are no deaths and no economic repercussions. Too late for that.
I doubt any country has got it perfectly right and even the WHO wasn’t reporting it adequately to start with.
Each country has to decide how best to deal with it and the same model won’t fit all.
A lot of the predictions were worst case scenarios and that scared the bejesus out of the powers that be, media and the general public.
I think one way of getting people to do the right thing (stay in, stay 2mtrs etc) is to give information on the dead. I’m not saying name, address and shoe size but age, what their lifestyle was, did they get it from the park bench or someone they don’t know. From the local shop, Drs or what.
It’s all very well saying 90yr old dies or 23yr old dies but under what circumstances did they get it. I can’t think a 90 yr old would be out raving with the kids so how?
Of course knowing how and where they got it could be positive and negative. But simply saying someone died doesn’t really amount to much.

//"The truth is that it did not take long before everyone realised that we must protect each other to protect ourselves.
"And the truth is too that Europe has now become the world's beating heart of solidarity.''//
Wasn't it supposed to be a beating heart of solidarity already?
I wonder if they think the worst is over and are going to get very noisy now?

Most of the planet are running around like headless chickens over coronavirus (Germany, New Zealand, you're exempt from that criticism). The EU has failed pathetically to put any plan in place, and seem to have adopted an "every man for themselves" approach. Not that the UK or the US have done any better mind.
Telegraph.
Brussels red-faced after Hungary gets more EU coronavirus cash than Italy
EU rules for regional aid meant that Hungary got far more emergency cash than stricken Italy, where the need is far greater
Italy received €2.3bn (£2 bn) from the €37bn Coronavirus Response Investment Initiative but Hungary, which has a sixth of the population of Italy, got €5.6bn (just under £4.9bn). An estimated 172 people have died from the virus in Hungary compared to a staggering 23,660 victims in Italy.
Work that out.
