recommend a good book for an expectant father...?
hi,
can anyone recommend a good book specifically for fathers to be?
My sister feels her boyfriend does not quite understand the changes she is going through physically, mentally and emotionally and therefore is not greatly sympathetic or understanding when she is not feeling her best or is grouchy/tired etc.
She would prefer something easy reading and possibly slightly humourous, more like something to browse through rather than something he would have to study as he is not a big reader.
Many Thanks.

My bf read this and i recommended it to many other expectant mums whos partners were finding it hard to go to anti-natal classes or read the medical books. Many found it an easy read, set in stages and with light moments as well as the serious stuff
the book is 'a blokes guide to pregnancy' by jon smith

Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy by Vicki Lovine is my tip for both mums and dads. not designed for dads specifically, but my other half chuckled (and yeuuh'd!!!) his way through it. Tells it exactly how it is, without any santitisation of events (very useful for letting them know EXACTLY what's going on) yet at the same time, not in any way meidcal or jargnoisitic or patronising (as alot of these books can be). made me laugh out loud. it's a book I've bought for lots of my expectant friends (males and females), and my copy has been read by god knows how many mums and their partners.
Hi Joko
I have just bought my husband the Haynes manual for babies - it's our first and we are both a little (or more than a little!) nervous. I've caught him a few times having a little look and we have spent time looking through the book together and along with the diagrams on how to change a nappy to how to react to the pregnancy tears, it's been a really good thing.
Hope your sis gets on ok :0)
