I have finally got my tapestry all attached to the frame and ready to go.
It is a millefleurs type design, quite large.

Should I start with the flowers or the background ?
Or does it not really matter ?

Thanks

I usually do 4 rows round the edge and then the middle and work out. Don’t know if that is correct or not though

Thanks, calmck.

That sounds like a plan .
I find it's easier to keep the tension from the centre out, but a friend does the background first as she say as she wouldn't be able to face it at the end.

Thanks, rowanwitch.

When I have done cross stitch I have always stared at the centre, so maybe that's the way to go.
Trouble is that I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that it was better to start with the flowers, then do the background, or do the background then do the flowers and I cannot remember which way round it was.....sigh !

I actually meant started at the centre...although I have also done a lot of staring at it too.......
Middle will probably work for you then
Question Author
