Always terrible when you hear this but I fear it’s the tip of the iceberg

20:42, can't help but agree.
// I offered to change seats with the woman so they could spend the flight together //

when people do that, it really messes with the accident investigators.... :-)
I know, I had to ask the stewardess to tell the pilot not to crash into anything. (Not least because it musses my hair.)
I've never known that with BA, jno. We choose our seats when we book our flights. I can only think that you were ahead of them in the queue then and they got was left.

I listened to LBC last night when I went to bed,a lady ( I use the term loosely) called Ursula with a cut glass accent phoned it with
“ Good, I’m pleased they’re losing their jobs, I travel the world at leisure and those pilots went on strike last year stopping me flying to the Caribbean ,so I’m pleased BA are in trouble, and I don’t care as I’m thick skinned”

I seriously thought “ This person sounds very familiar” then Nah can’t be, haha

But what a positively horrible person she was

If the lady can afford to 'travel the world at leisure', there is nothing at all stopping her circumventing a strike by one airline by simply booking with another.

Not only is she 'thick skinned', she appears to be merely thick as well.

She was a horrible nasty person Andy
it was quite a few years ago, naomi (not sure how many). It was still the norm to get your seats at check-in - one of the points of doing so was so that this sort of anomaly could be sorted before boarding.

It was no problem agreeing to it, but mushroom has a good point about the usefulness of it being arranged properly in advance. And 99 times out of 100 that was and is what happens.
