I’ve been trying to get Red,white and blue balloons for our VE Day social distancing celebrations this coming Friday, deliveries can’t be depended on with the current situation so fingers crossed that I’ve messaged a few sellers and ‘begged them’

It's Telegraph crossword day (still stuck on 2) for a start off. Then, I've been involved in my village organising a May Day display of scarecrows (and associated artifacts - I made a mini-maypole). That's now all done and copy and photos sent to local paper, so I can turn my attention to my recently-acquired Union Flag bunting ready for V.E. Day. I ordered it at the beginning of last week, fortunately.
We're planning bunting around the porch, tea and I'm gearing-up to make the sort of trifle I had as a kid. Managed to buy most things, now need sponge fingers. I wish you good luck with your balloons and hope you reciprocate with my search for sponge fingers!
All good- the village has really pulled together this last couple of weeks. Relationships have been established where just a wave used to do. This is really showing the basics of our society isn't it? We need to take note.

Done normal house stuff, been to work, went for our walk and now thinking about what to do for tea tomorrow (will involve getting something out of the freezer). Contemplating how to make things less dull for the kids if this is going on much longer, I personally think the kids will be off school till September.
I agree sherrardk. T.B.H. for the exam years the kids would be out for most of the Summer term anyway. The others continued working - but the last couple of weeks always eased off, what with trips, performances etc.. Distance-learning (assuming competent parents) should, therefore, more or less, make up for missed learning content. A bit complicated to explain, sorry. It is the least worst time is all I can say.
Don't know the ages of your kids, but my youngest is experimenting with hers as to the amount of bicarb. you need to add to plain flour to make self-raising flour. It's keeping them busy and they hope to be able to make a birthday cake for my granddaughter on the 11th.

Jourdain - youngest two are in year 7 so not a massive biggie, girl is due to start year 10 at half term, boy #2 was supposed to be doing his GCSEs (feel bad for him, he’s losing out on quite a bit). Boy #1 has lost out the most as he’s been sent back from uni and was part way through his ambulance placement and was very much enjoying his independent life style. On the up side, they all know it’s necessary and that they have to suck it up.
