how do you make damson gin or sloe gin

Chuck a load of sloes into half a litre of gin and some sugar. let it steep for 6 months and shake the bottle regularly. Drink.

you can also either pierce sloes first or freeze so they burst a bit first-think it helps gin take on flavour. I got vats of the stuff I keep forgetting to drink but you cannot beat it to warm the cockles in winter!!

I'm intrigued ..... How do you forget to drink sloe or damson gin? I can't get the stuff flavoured quickly enough.
