unusual spider living in pine roof above hot tub. can anyone I.D. ?

We have a large oval spider residing in the pine ceiling above our exterior hot tub. Does anyone know where I can get him identified. We have taken photos but due to his markings and our inexperience I cannot tell where his eyes are or how they are positioned. He has a large body and looks almost crab like with his legs tucked in. His body seems to blend in well with the wood markings.

it could be a wolf spider we have them in our house too

The wolf spiders I have seen seem to be quite hairy. This is not , it has very fine hairs that can inly be seen close up. ( macro zoom on camera , I am not that brave !!) But thanks for taking the time to respond. It is probably just a garden spider that has grown extra big like most other bugs this year with the hot weather !!!! may be not !
