There have now been 2 instances of what Chief Supt Ali Dizaei might call "guilty of travelling whilst Asian",

Scotstone, what a deliberately twisted analysis of what I said and where the hell do you get your figures from? 250,000 covert supporters, WHERE?
-- answer removed --
Noxlumos please accept my apologies as it seems my figure of 250 000 may be a slight underestimation.
A Channel 4 survey of 1000 muslims suggested that 23% of British Muslims think the July 7 bombings were justified due to British foreign policy in the Middle East. This is equivalent to 370 000, of the 1.6m Muslims living in the UK , who support the terrorist activities.
Furthermore:-
33% of Muslims wish to live under Sharia Law and dream of Britain becoming an Islamic state.
I fear that this 33% will have their dream fulfilled by the end of the century.
It seems most people on here would jump at their own shadow - but only if it was wearing a turban. . .
Well firstly if they were polled they were hardly "covert" were they? Secondly do you have a link to the survey and details of other things about the people polled rather than "they are Muslim" ( age, extent of religious conviction, level of education etc) because I could, I think quite easily conduct a biased survey by carefully choosing my target of English people that would say for example that they supported IRA activity. I'd frankly want something a bit wider ranging and more reliable than a Channel 4 survey which doubtless went hand in hand with one of it's cutting edge documentaries with a title like "The Threat Within" or "Taliban at our Gates" or some other such nonsense.
Show me a sensible poll, conducted by a sensible organisation and I'll take on board your statistics, until then , it's just more of the same hysteria.
Ward~Minter...
Are you serious dude?
Have you been transported into the 21st century by mistake?
some kind of weird 14th century time travel experiment gone wrong (because thats where your beliefs lie, my friend)
I'd quite happily let you and the remaining decent folk travel together, i'd put you all in a rocket and fire you into space where you belong!
Maybe if we shot enough of you into space the world would become just that little bit better for the rest of us!
Noxlumos you say we (presume you mean non muslims will have to face the consequences) no its our country our rules and until we have a white christian suicide bomber then i am afraid that people of a certain appearance will sometimes have to put up with a little inconvienience. We havent heard from the two people involved perhaps they may say we are sorry for causing concern to other passengers.Plenty of people had their holidays ruined by extra security but most were prepared to put up with it lets hear what the the people involved have to say
'our country, our rules'? Did the British observe this fine phrase when they took over India? No, they imposed their own rules. Now they are finding out what it feels like as people from the subcontinent come to live in Britain and also suggest they would like to do it their way. Biter bit, eh?
After any big news story related to 'terrorism', public paranoia/hysteria follows... which is understandable. As long as it dies down eventually.

I'm sure similar incidents must have occurred immediately after 9/11 and 7/7 and it's better to be safe than sorry, but only as long as people have justifiable cause for concern. Not being based solely on skin color, language, dress code etc etc

PS- If muslims were to fly muslim only flights, I think they would much prefer Emirates or something, not BA or Virgin.
bpoolmecca, why the hell should they say they were sorry for "causing anyone concern" when apparently all they were doing was trying to travel to their place of destination?
It was THEY that had their travel plans interfered with, it was THEY that were kicked off a flight they had quite legitimately boarded and it was THEY who had the pure and simple humiliation of being victimised because some panicstricken, media absorbed passengers allowed the fear and loathing that they are spoon-fed by the gutter press and TV to overcome their common sense and good judgement.
I think they are the ones owed an apology, since they were the only people wronged in this whole event.
It is NOT a crime to be Muslim or to be Asian, and no innocent person should ever be made to feel in this country that they owe anyone an apology for their ethnicity, whatever you might think.
"We havent heard from the two people involved perhaps they may say we are sorry for causing concern to other passengers."

And I suppose you expect Jean Charles Menezes's family to apologise to the passengers in the tube statoin for having to witness his shooting!

Oh and scotstone - do try and get your facts right.

1) The poll to which you are referring to is a YouGov Poll conducted for the Daily Telegraph - not a Channel 4 poll

2) No 23% did not feel that the attacks were justified - whilst 77% did say that they were not justified at all, 6% of those polled said it was justified (11% said on balance not justified and 6% responded 'don't know')

I stil lfind this a worryingly high number, however it is difficult to rationally debate a topic when people exagerate and mislead with their figures!

Try reading the actual facts, not what your BNP mates tell you : http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/graphics/2005/ 07/23/npoll23big.gif;jsessionid=UVGYP5MPJPNADQ FIQMGSFFOAVCBQWIV0
So only 96000 British Muslims support the Islamic terrorists. I feel a lot safer now!
And how do you think that figure compares to the support for the IRA during its bombing campaign of Britain?

Panic then as well did you?

Why not stop letttng the media whip you into a frenzy and start thinking things through? Or is that too much trouble?
It is ludicrous to compare the IRA with the Islamic terrorists infesting this country. The IRA didn't have lunatics willing to commit suicide by blowing planes out of the sky or crashing them into tower blocks. The IRA's campaign was also political rather than religious and wanted what they considered to be their own country back. The Islamic terrorists want to impose their religion on the rest of the world and don't care who dies in the process. I don't particularly want to die for their cause so if Muslims are targetted at the airports so be it.
"It is ludicrous to compare the IRA with the Islamic terrorists infesting this country. " - why? - both are/were more than happy to kill innocent people for their own reasons.

Whether or not a bomber survives after placing a bomb is pretty much irrelevant to the majority of the populous.

The IRA (just like the extremist Muslims) are interested in their own goals - and guess what - Ireland is still split after many years of their attacks.

Most young adults are disillusioned with the 'system' - it is very easy to turn one of these into an extremist by poisoning their mind. How much easier is it to poison their mind when they can point to things like airport security and tell the disillusioned "look - you are second class citizens who don't have the same rights as white people"

"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it and eventually they will believe it"
The public are repeatedly told to report anything suspicious, that is what the passengers did. What should they have done?
2 men arrive for a flight in the middle of a Spanish summer dressed in thick pullovers and leather coats no matter what colour or race they are that is suspicious.
The pilot choose not to fly he could have told the worried passengers to get off if they wanted but he was flying.
So come on those that say the passengers were hysterical should you report suspicious behaviour or not? and if not why not.

"Spanish summer dressed in thick pullovers and leather coats" and the misinformation continue.

I'm not sure what the temperature was - however, I did notice that the time was 03.00 BST - which means it would be the early hours in Spain.

If it is now a crime to be cold, better report me - I had the heating on last week (during the hot english summer)
