I Almost Tripped On A Hedgie

While out with Sammi about 45 minutes ago we came across two of the critters. First Sammi had a sniff of one, then about 50 feet further along was a biggie that I almost stumbled on. In fact, they were both big. I've also seen a smaller one near my flat. It's great to see them, after not seeing any for a couple of years.

I have group of them in my back garden every night. The record being 17!

If they are out during the day they are either unwell or dehydrated - it would be helpful to put them in a box and take them to a hedgehog rescue or at least give them some water (NOT milk as they are lactose intolerant and it will kill them). They also like tinned cat food.

I love hedgies and small animals in general. Wish there were more round where I live but I'm right in the middle of a heavily populated residential area :o(

I used to have hedgehogs in my garden until the badgers moved in to the field behind my house. Badgers love them :(

Lankeela, this was at night...rather late as tiggs noticed.
There are a series of closes...is that the correct plural for lanes with no traffic?...opposite me. It's right by a park entrance, and there are several little green spaces also. So I see them there and in some back gardens.
